From Dr Mercola- Exercise or Diet? Which is better for Reducing Risk of Diabetes?

According to a new study by researchers examining
whether a calorie-restrictive diet can extend the human lifespan,
both diet and exercise provide profound benefits to reduce the risk of diabetes.

The researchers, who initially thought that exercise would produce
greater benefits, examined 50 to 60 year olds whose body mass index
was between 23 and 30 (at the high end of normal weight or overweight, but not obese).

The scientists were looking at diabetes development
because the disease is one of the main causes of premature death.

The study participants were divided into groups and treated
with either an exercise regimen or a calorie-restricted diet.
All participants had their insulin action and glucose tolerance e
valuated at the beginning and end of the study.

The ultimate goal of the diet group was to cut
the number of calories they ate by 20 percent,
while the exercise group was charged
with burning 20 percent more of their calories.

Glucose tolerance and insulin levels improved
to roughly the same degree in both the dieters and exercisers.
Both groups also lost weight.

This common household item DRAMATICALLY INCREASES your risk of Pancreatic Cancer

Sweetened foods and drinks increase the risk
of developing pancreatic cancer, according to a new study.

Soft drinks and sugar in coffee
are among the most common ways the risk is increased.

Some 80,000 men and women had their dietary habits monitored
between 1997 and 2005.

By the end of the study, 131 had pancreatic cancer.

Most at risk were those who drank soft drinks;
those who drank them twice a day or more
had a 90 percent higher risk
than those who never drank them at all.

People who added sugar to food or drinks (e.g. coffee)
at least five times a day ran a 70 percent greater risk
than those who refrained from doing so.

Those who ate creamed fruit at least once a day
also ran a 50 percent higher risk
than those who never ate the product
(creamed fruit is similar to jam)

Pancreatic cancer may be caused when the pancreas produces increased levels of insulin; high sugar consumption is a well-known way of increasing insulin production...

FAMILY

I ran into a stranger as he passed by,
"Oh excuse me please" was my reply.

He said, "Please excuse me too;
I wasn't watching for you."

We were very polite, this stranger and I.
We went on our way and we said goodbye.

But at home a different story is told,
How we treat our loved ones, young and old.

Later that day, cooking the evening meal,
My son stood beside me very still.
When I turned, I nearly knocked him down.

"Move out of the way," I said with a frown.

He walked away, his little heart broken.
I didn't realize how harshly I'd spoken.
While I lay awake in bed,
God's still small voice came to me and said,

"While dealing with a stranger,
common courtesy you use, but the family you love,
you seem to abuse. Go and look on the kitchen floor,
You'll find some flowers there by the door.
Those are the flowers he brought for you.
He picked them himself: pink, yellow and blue.

He stood very quietly not to spoil the surprise,
you never saw the tears that filled his little eyes."

By this time, I felt very small,
And now my tears began to fall.

I quietly went and knelt by his bed;
"Wake up, little one, wake up," I said.
"Are these the flowers you picked for me?"

He smiled, "I found 'em, out by the tree.
I picked 'em because they're pretty like you.
I knew you'd like 'em, especially the blue."

I said, "Son, I'm very sorry for the way I acted today;
I shouldn't have yelled at you that way."

He said, "Oh, Mom, that's okay. I love you anyway."

I said, "Son, I love you too, and I do like the flowers, especially the blue."

Are you aware that if we died tomorrow,
the company that we are working for could easily replace
us in a matter of days.

But the family we left behind
will feel the loss for the rest of their lives.

And come to think of it, we pour ourselves
more into work than into our own family,
an unwise investment indeed, don't you think?

So what is behind the story?

Do you know what the word FAMILY means?

FAMILY = (F)ATHER (A)ND (M)OTHER (I) (L)OVE (Y)OU
