Yoga- my favourite exercise! I could do it all day long but unfortunately I don’t have the time or discipline to!
It is a practice that is all about you and your body, mind and spirit. It is great to do it for a few weeks and see how much progress you have made. From struggling to touch my toes to being able to place my head on my knees in a few months is a wonderful feeling of achievement.
There are many different forms of yoga. I practise Iyengar yoga, which uses props (belts and blocks) to achieve a more precise pose.
There are many different poses and various names for them. Some of them are ideal for specific conditions as well as all round well being.
I would recommend Yoga to anyone, young and old. Try to find a private instructor as opposed to a gym class. It is very important that you have an instructor who watches and corrects you all the time as incorrect poses can lead to injuries.
Learn more about the different types and poses of yoga at Yoga Journal.
Tai Chi- I have only recently been introduced to Tai Chi and still know very little. I do know that it looks and feels beautiful when done correctly and I will strive to learn more.
It is a very disciplined practice and also have many poses that flow into one another.
I shall add more information as I gather it.
