Relaxation Therapy

Relaxation is one of the more important things in my life. I believe that if we all spent 10-15 minutes a day relaxing properly, we would all be so much better off.

When we relax properly, and I’m not talking about reading a book or sleeping, our body and mind get time to be still. When we become still, we can listen to the universe. We can regenerate our cells at a faster rate and put our lives in perspective.

It is so easy to feel disconnected from the world. Actually, I think, most of us feel disconnected most of the time.

When we take the time to treat ourselves to a little relaxation, we immediately benefit. And the more we do it the more we want to do it. It is only when we stop for a few days, that we realise how good it was. And when we go for weeks without doing it we fall into a common pattern. The pattern of believing that if we haven’t had it for weeks, we obviously don’t need it.

Oh, how wrong we are. Just do it for 2 days and you’ll find how much you have missed.

So, there are various ways of achieving that proper relaxed state.

This is a state where your heart rate is slowed, your mind is focused inwards and in the present and your body is still. You determine the depth of your relaxed state.

It sounds simple and is:

Meditation is a great way of achieving this. There are various forms of meditation and I believe there is something for everyone. Whether it be breathing, moving, chanting or silent meditation. Please go here to learn more about meditating

Hypnosis is another way of achieving complete relaxation. I feel the world hypnosis should always be paired with the word “self”. I use hypnosis in almost every session and I also do a lot of self –hypnosis. You can only be hypnotised if you allow yourself to enter the relaxed states. Nobody can hypnotise you or make you do something you wouldn’t normally do. If a hypnotist asked you to remove your clothes and you are not comfortable with the suggestion you would be able to open your eyes and walk out.

Being in a hypnotised state does not mean you are unconscious. You are actually more conscious. You are aware of things around you but are more interested in your inner consciousness.  This is called dual awareness and can only be reached by complete relaxation. Hypnosis is a very powerful tool and when used correctly can do wonders. Don’t be scared of it-just find a trustworthy hypnotherapist.
